Provisional details of Event Centre

The most famous mountain resort in the highest Czech mountains Krkonose. Spindleruv Mlyn is the biggest Czech ski resort.

Accommodation capacity of 10,000 beds in the hotels and pensions of all categories ensure the smooth accommodation for all athletes, organizers and spectators.

Background of Spindleruv Mlyn is ready to stage major international competitions (World Cup downhill skiing and acrobatics, the international mountain bike events and international long distance events in cross-country skiing).

Czech TV has many experiences from Spindleruv Mlyn (ceremonies, ...).

Suitable sites for ceremonies – outdoor ceremonies in ski resort, indoor ceremonies in large conference rooms in four-star hotels with capacity of several hundred people.

Description of terrains and vegetation (including altitude above sea level):
Long qualification 1, 2 [map]

Submountain forests with variable horizontal and vertical terrain with dominantly coniferous trees. There are different types of terrain in the area - flat, slightly hilly and very hilly. Part of the area is covered by stone fields, which sometimes pass in the sandstone blocks. The forest is well for running with a minimal amount undergrowth. The area lies at an altitude of 340 to 520 m.

Sprint qualification

Urban area of Jilemnice town. Changing passages of old town centre, town park area, Jilemnice hospital area and housing estate area. Several sprint events took place there, but still no Czech cup, Czech championships or international event.

Sprint final

Old town area of Trutnov city. Changing passages of old town centre with nice streets and old architecture, town park area and neighbouring forest. Czech relay championship took place there in 1993. In 1994 fifth stage of 5 days Orienteering Jicin competition finished on town square – 2700 competitors in the finish.

There is a summer climate with temperatures from 20 to 30°C in the time of competition.

Land access

Terrains planned for the long qualification and final is the territory of the Lesy CR company. Czech orienteering federation has an agreement for organizing orienteering events with this company. Entry into these areas is thus ensured.

Terrains planned for sprint qualification and final is located in the towns of Jilemnice and Trutnov. Both towns are opened for sport activities and orienteering. Few orienteering competitions were organized there in the past. During first negotiations with these two bodies, openness and cooperation were promised.

Tourism possibilities in the arenas

Spindleruv Mlyn is the center of the highest Czech mountains Krkonose. There is a wide range of hiking and cycling possibilities. You can use the cable car to reach remote areas.

The tourist infocentre is ready to help visitors with tourist activities, maps, souvenirs, atc. There is also wide range of gastronomic and shopping opportunities.

Competitors and spectators can also visit the famous ZOO with popular African safari in Dvur Kralové nad Labem (50 km).

Bohemian Paradise with many rock towns and beautiful tracks is also very attractive tourist destination (60 km).
